About

Since beginning in 1982, MAKE MUSIC DAY has spread to more than 1,000 cities in 120 countries.

Make Music Day is a one-day annual celebration on the summer solstice and is not a typical music festival or scheduled event. Participants include every kind of musician – from the young to old, and every musical persuasion. It is the inclusion of workshops, special classes, master classes, and performances – from solo to larger groups; in multiple venues indoors and out.

All events will be free. Kinston will be one of 15 North Carolina cities/areas participating in this event.

The Arts Council serves as the “coordinator” for this event in Kinston. If you are a musician wishing to participate, an educator willing to share an expertise, a venue owner wanting to “host” a musician, or a patron of music, reach out to Sandy at (252) 527-2517 or slandis@kinstoncca.com for more information. For more information about this global event, visit makemusicday.org.
